When I painted this scene, I was so taken in by the beauty in the sparkling beams of cars in the pitch black sky. The roads lighten up , and there are fireworks all around you, not in the sky this time but much closer. The colours I chose to play with were selective because I felt there needed to be some unity in form as this painting presents a traffic scene. The use of white dominates much of the painting so that there is emphasis on where the light falls. The basic idea was to represent Karachi ‘The city of lights’ in a different form keeping to the aspect of how the street hustle and bustle keeps the city lit even when there are complete blackouts. I tried to create a cubistic/ abstract feel to the painting to give a feel of chaos and confusion but to some degree one can clearly tell that the painting presents a scene of wild traffic coming straight at you.
